A couple years back I got scammed online over my gaming console. This was when I was around 12 or 13 years old, I was playing a game where you are able to trade in game currency for other items called rocket league. And I was looking for some good prices through these offerings. And I finally found a not so bad looking offer that was cheaper than the in-game price for currency but cheaper than what it would look like if it was a scam.

So I message the guy over my Xbox and he respond immediately and talks to me with a good attitude and overall just comes off as a positive guy. And it was so real he was willing to join a call with me and tell me details on how it’s not a scam and how he is trying to get rid of his in game currency and all other items because he is quitting the game and trying to get the most out of his account.

He ends up telling me he’ll give me the currency for half off of the game price since I seem like a good kid. And tells me to Zelle him $20 for 4000 in game currency. Leading up to this point I had built trust with him so I sent over the money right before we made the trade and then he cancelled the trade and blocked my user on Xbox. Since then I have never trusted an online trade or offer from a non-official website.

  1. Good thing it was only $20 and not $1000. It going to get worse with all this AI technology so be careful and stay alert.
